A Glimpse Before New Dawn

Captain's Blog Stardate 93418.85

I'm going to keep this blog short since "New Dawn" comes out Tuesday and I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about. I would like to briefly touch on two topics that came up this past week which I think deserve a quick mention.

First off, how cool is this new dry docking feature? I think it's about time we get limitless storage for our ships. Of course we won't be able to switch to it at will like we do with our current ships, nor will they be able to hold equipment, but at least we can activate them by visiting a shipyard. It gives everyone the ability to hold all these ships we have. I just wish this was a feature a long time ago.

We also got a brief glimpse into the upcoming "Sunrise" episode in the form of a prelude blog. Sure the blog doesn't give too many details, but at the very end Cryptic states that we are returning to a time of exploration. "Midnight" is probably one of the most Trek-like episodes in the game. If it is a hint of what's to come that I for one am excited. I know we should expect combat, but as long as there is a good story behind it then I think it will be tolerable.

It's safe to say that Star Trek Online needs to alter it's heading and warp in a new direction in order to survive. It needs to explore new avenues of story so that we the players can explore strange new worlds. In the comments share your thoughts on the upcoming storyline and if you think we will get stories that are much closer to those we loved to watch on TV.

Just Sad that Drydocking doesn't launch with New Dawn.... It will be coming later.

I am excited that A New Dawn will bring back exploration, I am hoping to see the new designs they have in store for the missions and I am hopping that as explorers, will be able to not only reconnect with the lost worlds of the Federation but to explore new ones. I would also enjoy to see a story about the Q Continuum in where Q comes to us and asks for our help in rescuing the Q from an enemy of unknown power, that would even rival the Q's themselves!

It's hard to feel excited considering the amount of sub-par material that's come out of this studio of late. They need to hit a homerun with this, otherwise the feelings of mediocrity will solidify.
