A Step Between Stars Review
Captain's Blog Stardate 91695.42
Can I just say that I really enjoyed A Step Between Stars. I can't say it's the best they've ever created, but I did enjoy it. Probably the best part of the whole thing was all the options and how they changed the way the story was told even though the outcome stayed the same. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything in this blog.
Let's start at the beginning. It's nice to have a lot of voice-overs in this mission. Is it just me or did every major character have a voice? I think that's the first time Cryptic has done something like this. It's usually just one line of voice and you have to read the rest.
Speaking of voices, wasn't it nice having Tuvok back? Perhaps it's just the Vulcan in me but I really enjoyed it! Although Cooper was a bit annoying. I wish there was an option to leave him behind... but I bet Tuvok wouldn't allow it. Especially since Cooper... oh wait I'm not supposed to give spoilers.
The new EV suit is pretty cool. I actually bought the one from the Lobi store which even surprised me because I rarely buy anything from there. I guess it just looked so smooth that I had to have it. I just wish that little jet pack could be used when mining instead of just during the mission. Come on Cryptic, get it done!
To end off this blog I just want to say that while you're playing the mission, try picking different options to get the various accolades and to have a whole new experience. It definitely makes it more enjoyable especially if you keep playing it to get the complete set of equipment. In the comments let me know what you think about this mission, the voice-over work, and the new EV suit!

Hey!
Like you, I really enjoyed the Stars episode! Well done, and the flow of it is quite enjoyable. Not sure what I think of the final battle and the orientation ...but to say more would probably be spoiler material :)
I must be honest and say I was not impressed with the voice over work for Tuwok. Seemed very flat and uninspired to me...same goes for Worf in the Dyson Sphere of Influence, etc.
But, I can only undersign your blog post...well done on most all accounts, Cryptic! :)

Well Tuvok is a Vulcan, that's how he's supposed to sound. As for Worf, I can agree. I really don't remember hearing much Klingon emotion from him like we did from the series.

Having seen Tim Russ do other roles I admire how he his able to keep his voice so flat. I still hope we'd see some of TNG caracters in the future. And I loved that they took make it feel like it should be you on the ground not you FO. (But my ego got inflated after a while)
For the mission I have to go with the concensus: it is fun, but that end battle is ZZzzzzzZZ.. having done it 6 times already with more to do it's getting on my nerve and i wish there was a way to avoid that battle. I also don't get the ending... the sphere was a big story enough without the need to bring "that" in it. We'll see where they are going with that. But itt's not like we are even half done with the Dyson Spher; we still can't access the Voth control sector :)
I do agree with you boss: NEW EV SUIT! I want to rename a toon Daft punk .
pro: free ship, great space set, amazing ev suits, great story with multiple options on replay, nice graphic (the EV suit part was just plain fun
Cons: grinding, grinding gringind. Cooper. the door lock (sorry but it's a pain to do and I don't see the usea ). final battle.
Conclusion : bring us more!!! (but less mindless grinding please)

Overall, I enjoyed the mission very much. I don't like the controls (or lack fo them) on the EV suit, but that's a minor quibble. I do appreciate that you don't have to repeat the mission if you don't want to in order to get the free ship. As it is, I expect to be doing it a lot so I can have a set of consoles for each of my toons. Because of that, I do like that it plays out a little differently depending on which options you choose. Did anybody notice that one of the things that changes is that you get a different EV suit on each of the two main story paths, and you get a suit each time you run the mission. If you run it enough, your whole away team could have two suits apiece that you could switch off between depending on what you need one for.

Hi, well I think this episode was very well done, and realize than it took its share of money to get it well done, some players got graphical problems but in the new patch everything seems to have been fixed and I have seen stuff that was missing before it even thou I had no problem with the graphics, well done really, Cryptic loves the game and it shows. I'm doing it in a lot of my toons with the repeats... yeah a lot of grind, but just once for the 400x Qs, leaving the rest of the consoles for later. Btw you can get the 3 EV suits faster if you leave the map every time you get one version, so you repeat just the part from where you meet Tuvok. I also got the Black EV from the lobi (with some free lobi from the lobi event) cos it really looks awsum. Now I'm grinding for the C-store ship, I think it will be a nice addition to the Romulan shipyards, hope they sell a bunch.
It's really nice that the game it's getting better and bigger, let's hope for 4 more years for STO!
