Admiralty System Review
Captain's Blog Stardate 93457.29
Last week we talked about the new episodes, so this week let's talk about the Admiralty system. Do you love it? Do you hate it? A little bit of both?
The first thing that comes to mind is that the Admiralty system is almost useless unless you own a bunch of ships. Start spending that hard earned energy credits, dilithium, and/or Zen to buy some pretty ships. Essentially the number of ships you have will determine how many assignments you can run, how often, and how successful they are. So either buy a bunch of ships, or suffer.
The good news is that a lot of these assignments give a decent amount of experience. I've already managed to earn a whole bunch of Specialization Points simply by completing assignments in the Duty Officer and Admiralty systems. It helps that I quickly unlocked most Admiralty assignment slots (all but 1) and have a decent amount of ships from over the years to constantly run assignments. Still, even with a limited amount of ships anyone can benefit from this.
So far the rewards haven't been all that great (aside from the Specialization points, of course). There hasn't been anything that really caught my eye. In terms of levelling up, if anyone is curious, I first levelled up the Federation track to 5 then did the same for the Klingon track. This unlocked almost all of the slots. Now I'm focusing on Federation until it reaches 10, then I'll do the same for Klingon.
Overall it's interesting, even if it's just a copy of the Duty Officer system. At least it gives some sort of value to your other ships and, as I've said before, a whole bunch of experience!
With that being said I was wondering if anyone had a strategy when it comes to assignments? Is there a certain set-up to be looking out for? How can get better critical successes? How can you run more projects with a high chance of success? Feel free to share your strategies below as well as your opinion on the Admiralty system.

I enjoy doing Doff & these Admiralty missions... My only rant is I mainly play KDF and most of the missions have high Sci scale, and even my Sci ships are not that high in points, so its hard to complete the missions.
I personally think the factions should be modified to fit their abilities, Fed can stay as is, being a exploring based faction and has numerous ship types to fill the points.
KDF are a war based faction and should be high on Tac, Eng and lower on Sci.
Cant really speak for the Romulan's as I rarely play them, but I would imagine it would be whoever they are aligned with.
Other than that whine... I like it :)

I like it. Sure, it's another DOff system, but it's different. I mean, I actually have to *think* about what ships go on missions. I guess you could do the same for Doffing, but I tend to just use whomever is picked for Doff missions. Admiralty forces *me* to choose what ships go for what missions.
Yeah, *that* administration.

All in all, the admiralty system is good for those of us who've been playing a while with a healthy supply of ships. However, it seems just another way to boost zen sales. The prices of mirror ships and lock box ships have gone up considerably. Not to mention fleet ship modules were 17 million EC last I checked.

I agree, STO needs more and better stories and needs to return to stories of exploration, not war.

It's a little bit of both for me. My only complaint it that it highlights my biggest problem with STO, the lack of science ships for KDF. I really want a t6 replacement for the Varanus for my science toon and now I need it for the Admiralty System too.

Admiralty makes me wish I hadn't gone through and cleaned all the lowbie ships out of my shipyards a few months back. LOL. Anyway, I like the system and I think its worth noting that NO ship is useless now. Even the cheapest shuttles and tier 1 ships have been very useful to me with this system. I blew a lot of Dil when the system was released buying low level ships at the shipyard and have earned it back several times over by keeping them out on missions. Once you get the hang of combining ship (or shuttle) abilities to maximize your success/crit rates its a nice source of EC and Dil. Best tip I have: Don't waste all your best ships on one mission.

I just started the admiralty mission and what caught my eye was the 30000 dilithium if you complete the ferengi missions. What is the catch? Got to be one with those guy!
