Cardassian-Sunrise Review

Captain's Blog Stardate 93438.08

It's finally here, Season 11: New Dawn along with a bunch of new Cardassian story episodes and a brand new episode called "Sunrise"! So how do these stack up against expectations and history? Let's find out! Warning, spoilers ahead!

I'll start with the new Cardassian episodes. It had a lot of nice environments to look at, and the story did flow nice; however it felt short. I really enjoyed the previous Cardassian story arc because there was more to it and told more of a story. It feels like they cut down the story simply to shorten the arc. I really don't understand the decision for this.

That being said, there were a couple things throughout the episodes that I really enjoyed. The first was travelling to the Mirror Bajor and seeing how different yet similar it is. The environment was pretty cool. The second, and my most favorite, was seeing the Changelings emerge from the New Link. I also thought it was a fun twist that if you run into the New Link bubbles form that attack you.

Let's move on to "Sunrise". Now this definitely felt like Star Trek! There was a lot of technical jargon, a slight mystery as to who this newcomer was from the future, as well as meeting a brand new species and learning a little about them. We also got to fight off some Tholians and save the planet from being destroyed! I could definitely see this being a real episode of Star Trek. I hope this is an indiciation of things to come.

In the comments let me know your thoughts about the Cardassian arc and "Sunrise". Did you have a favorite part in any of these episodes? Are you optimistic about upcoming episodes? Let me know!

I've only done Sunrise so far, so I skimmed the Cardassian parts above. ; )

(I'm a bit agitated that they still show 'known issues' in the patch noted for the Cardassian arc for Voice Over, etc.
I'm not going to fool myself into thinking that I'm going to run those new episodes several times! I want it to be right / fixed, and then I'll run it. )

I enjoyed Sunrise though- (I liked the time travel comments we made, as if we had enough of time travel. ; )

As for the "Sunrise" episode, I really enjoyed it! Well done Cryptic...

I really enjoyed "Sunrise". It had exploring a strange new world, and seeking a new civilization. It had science stuff. I did enjoy the new Cardassian arc, even though like some I felt it a bit short. Though I do like how streamlined the storyline is. I think that the developers should re-release the other "old" episodes as specials or as part of a reputation system like the extra missions in the New Romulus Reputation.

Cardassian Sunrise sounds like a drink I can get at Quarks. :D

I liked the Cardassian missions, and the Sunrise one was ok. I wonder what the next one will be like.

Hmmm I was hoping for more considering the way it was hyped as "a return to exploration".

Personally I was hoping there would be a return of the regions where we used to be able to fly around investigating signal contacts. It was my hope that they'd revamped them.

But what we got instead was another FE. Which meant, to me personally, that I played it once and really don't have any interest in playing it again. Even with the weekly rewards.

Perhaps its early days and there's more to come. We'll see.

I did like the revamped Cardassian missions though.
