Ferasans
Captain's Blog Stardate 89990.58
Soooo what do you think about the Ferasans? Personally, I think they look cool. I haven't played as one or gotten a Ferasan Bridge Officer, but they are definitely interesting. I remember a while back people were begging Cryptic to add the Kzinti to STO but since they aren't an original Star Trek species, Cryptic couldn't do it. Many many many months later we get the Ferasans, a Caitian look-alike species that is completely original.
The simplest background is that they are related to the Caitians (which are from the Animated Series) but are from the world known as Ferasa. So can we just say they are the same as Romulans and Vulcans? Think about it, two races that look very similar but are from different worlds. Ferasans = Romulan, Caitian = Vulcan. Just a fun idea to think about.
It may sound like I'm trying to make fun of this species (and I kind of am, but not in a mean way), but I am really glad that the KDF faction finally has another species to play around with. On the Federation side there is such a large variety, but on the KDF side there is barely anything. My one problem with this is that when you buy a playable Ferasan, you unlock additional options for Caitians. Personally, I think if you buy a Caitian you should unlock additional options for Ferasans. It would make sense, but hey I don't work for Cryptic so what do I know lol.
If you've played as one or got one of the Bridge Officers let me know how you like it. If not, then just give me your thoughts on the Ferasans.

I can agree to the Vulcan/Romulan thing, and do like that they're adding to the KDF. I just wish they'd add more missions and such so leveling on that side isn't such a grind. I'm not as Caitian crazy as everyone else seems to be, but that's me. I also agree that there should be Ferasan unlocks with purchase of a Caitain, but c'est la vie.

While I'm glad to see that the KDF is getting *something* new, it is still not enough to make me blow the dust off my KDF captain. It is a step in the right direction, but there is still so much to keep me on the Fed side. I also agree that the Caitaian/Ferasan purchase should unlock new looks for the other. We might possibly see a C-store special on those, but I'm not going to hold my breath for it. There is still a lot of work to be done on the KDF, but they are moving in the right direction for once in the past few months.
Do we have fleet starbases yet? Just checking. I was hoping I would sleep till June last night. I'm tired of waiting for them.

The only thing I like about the Ferasans is that it increases the chance I'll get a cat in Cure Ground Elite pug's I join. I ran a few CGE's over the weekend with some of them (how people leveled them to 50 so quickly is beyond me), and they jump gracefully over the Borg turret cover shields and place the bomb. I don't think any other species could do the job so swiftly as these KDF furries, or their light side cousins.

i agree that they look cool and also agree that they balance things out for kdf and fed members. but what id really like to see happen are a few new worlds show up. trill, ferenginar. also would like to see the xindi show up at some point.

FYI, the Caitians are not just Animated Series. There are Caitians in Final Frontier, Voyage Home, and Undiscovered Country. The one in the Animated Series (like the entire TAS) is non-canon and anatomically incorrect.

Ferasans? Caitians? Now that both the Human and Klingon Factions have their Hello Kitty pets, can we get an Amen for playable Romulans?
How about some playable Romulan ships? Oh wait, Cryptic already did that when it tweaked the D'deridex design and gave us the Caitian Atrox Carrier.
