Foundry and Fleets
Captain's Blog Stardate 91273.96
I need to be honest, I've been so busy this past week that I really didn't think about today's blog so I'm just going to wing it. Actually I came up with two ideas which are not exactly related, but here we go.
First let's talk about the Foundry. Spotlight missions have started coming back which is great. These are some really amazing missions that have been created by other players so I suggest checking them out. The first spotlight mission you play each day does reward dilithium which can be very helpful especially if you're in a fleet.
Aside from the spotlight missions, there are others which aren't as popular but still pretty good. So in the comments below if you've made or played any Foundry missions which you think are really good, let everyone else know! Players are always looking for something new and fun to do in STO.
The other topic is about fleets. I've heard a lot of people talk about their fleet being inactive or they don't complete fleet projects quick enough. What I would like to know is, what does your fleet do to stay active and motivate members? As leader of the STO Academy fleet I try to hold parties whenever we accomplish something or when there is something to celebrate. Some of my fellow leaders hold daily events to keep members active and motivate them to contribute to projects.
Hopefully some of the things that your fleets do will help inactive fleets get some ideas. One that just popped in my head (and the STOA fleet might start doing) is to hold foundry events where we play the spotlight mission that was just released. That dilithium would go a long way towards completing fleet projects.

As a fellow (administrative) Fleet Leader, I can confirm that doing daily events greatly enhance the "Esprit de Corps" within a Fleet and it also help to collect badly needed resources for Fleet projects. ;)

There is a great foundry mission a friend of mine has made called GRIZZ's farmer (just search for grizz). It's meant for farming EC, and pays about 900 dilitihum, but unlike so many other boring foundry farmers, this one has a fun plot with a large cast of guest characters from the fleet, Sector 31 ANTKB.
Speaking of fleets, one thing we do most nights is organize on our teamspeak server not one, not two, but usually three starbase fleet defenses (the big 20 player one). Because we're such a big fleet, we need all the marks we can get to build our bases (3 fed, 1 kdf). We also hold special pvp competitions, foundry classes, and creative writing contests that involve our STO captains.

I just tried GRIZZ and I like it very much. It was a little longer than some farming missions, but it gave a great deal of loot, including some Rare items, plus a decent amount of Dilithium. I like it better than the farming mission I had been doing. Admiral Bobo Goes to War. Like GRIZZ, Admiral Bobo has a story line of sorts to go along with its "shoot whatever's in front of you" format. For some people, Admiral Bobo Goes to War EASY will be a good choice because it doesn't throw multiple ships at you all at the same time.
As for Spotlight Missions, I like "One Too Many". "Relics", "Repairing Utopia Planentia", "First Cause Then Effect" and "The Infinitesimal Frontier". There are several other very good ones among the Spotlight Missions and only one or two really bad ones (I won't be so crass as to name them since the authors obviously put a lot of time and effort into producing them and some people actually like them).
