Iconian War Review
Captain's Blog Stardate 92920.84
Don't the Heralds look like something out of Neverwinter? Maybe they have something to do with Stonehenge? Quick someone make a Foundry mission revolving around that! In any case, let's get down to business and review the newest to episodes. Warning, spoilers ahead!
I have to give Cryptic credit. They've created an enemy and a story that makes the Dominion and Borg wars look like a walk in the park. If the Heralds aren't enough to make you think that, the Iconians themselves should be. I doubt the Borg could stand up to the Iconians.
I'm also not the least bit surprised that the Preservers are tangled in this story. To be honest, I was wondering when they would tie them into the Iconian war. Does anyone else feel that the Preservers are going to make a much larger comeback? I know the archive was destroyed but surely that cannot be the only one! When and how will they return?
It is nice to see Tom Paris back in the fold as well as his daughter Miral. They really are trying to bring back the entire cast of Voyager. It makes me wonder if they have any story plans for the casts of the other shows. Anyway, I like this whole Delta Flight story and the idea of it being a cross-faction fleet. Could this be a glimpse into the future where we can turn our fleets into cross-faction ones?
Overall I think these two episodes have been some of the best they've put out in a while. I know they can reach a much higher caliber, but these weren't bad. In the comments feel free to review both of these episodes. Was there something that you liked or didn't like and why?

Personally, I was surprised. What I am saying now, is not meant offensive to service members around the world, but "Blood of the Ancients" actually kinda felt like War to me.
Down on Mol'Rihan I was glad to have my Mk XIV Omega Autocarbine with me and I was like "Come on, get some!" the whole time. The burning forest at the Hwael Ruins really put you in the mood and the waves over waves of Heralds ....
Well, it surely felt like its going to be all or nothing. For once: "Kudos Cryptic!"
"Delta Flight" was also nice, but I wish there had been some kind of warning. Flying that track with a Command Warbird is really challenging. LOL
Also, it was no surprise to me whatsoever, to see Lt.Cmdr. Paris working together with her Daddy. ;)

The only thing that could have brought more authenticity to the Heralds invading New Romulus would have been the ability to beam down reinforcements. The idea that you beam down with 4 members of your bridge crew and that's it, well didn't seem right. We are talking about an Admiral beaming down into what could be the greatest threat he's ever faced with just 4 team members. Where were the hordes of security an event like this would have called for?
I know, they must limit the number of characters to prevent extreme lag but there is still a wrong feeling to it.
Though this really does feel right, the Iconians really do present a threat that we may not be able to fully overcome. Their ships actually make a statement with their power and with the huge automation with the probes and drones. It shows that in the future, we are unlikely to have tons of manned craft.
I can't wait to see where this goes and most of all, can't wait to get my hands on some of those blue antiproton weapons the Herald ships use. I would replace all my red antiproton weapons with those.

My only problem with the new episodes is they seem to be focused on quantity over quality. I don't mean that the new stuff is bad but do they test anything before launch? Bugs in new content is understandable but three's limits to what's acceptable if they expect me to spend money on the game. My guess would be that with tribble limited to people that sub there's not enough testing being done to find all the bugs.
