I'm Secret Agent 0047
Captain's Blog Stardate 92289.05
So apparently with the Delta Rising expansion we're going to become 007, Splinter Cell, Solid Snake, Batman, Jack Bauer, and any other spy type person you can think of. We're getting a grappling gun? Really this reminds me mostly of Batman but the description of why we need it makes us sound like we'll be spies. Listen to this
"... the situation may call for a more “finessed” approach to accomplish our objectives ... equipment, designed specifically for those situations that may require a more unconventional approach".
It goes on to describe the grapple gun which has "three settings: traverse, which lets you cross a more or less horizontal plane; zipline, that uses gravity to propel you in a controlled slide at an angle; and rappel, which allows you to drop down a vertical surface safely". Cue "Secret Agent Man" and active the grapple gun. It sounds just a little weird to me but kind of cool. Infilitration is something we've seen before in Trek. I just wonder how advanced this will be. Will we be able to sneak around undetected? Make the slightest noise and the enemy comes running? I guess we'll find out as more dev blogs come out.
While talking about items, let's talk about the Delta Rising Operations Pack. I estimated the total value at around 25000 Zen. The price of $124.99 USD for the pack is actually really good. If I did the math right it's worth about twice as much (maybe a little less). I actually am thinking about getting it. While I probably won't use everything, the fact that it's a good value and knowing that I supported the game is reason enough for me. Besides it'll be nice at least see what these new ships are all about.
In the comments let me know your thoughts on the Operations Pack and this whole "spy" thing being added to the game.

I agree. I stopped playing games on my playstation/xbox for STO so I think its a great deal.
I still will get a few games for my PS3 but its more for my kids who play. Ill splash out on a ps4 for destiny but for the most part its all about sto for me.
I would have preffered better ship designs tho. the escort and science ships look just too fvamiliar to the normal ships just with different skins. I can understand the guardian ship looking familiar but if they can make an eclipse class that looks pretty cool surely they can make a different design....

I'm probably going to pass on the Delta Pack. I bought the Odyssey Bundle and the Romulan Premium pack and I've got Dysons, Chimeras, Chells, and both Risan ships for all my toons. As a result, i have no ship slots for a bunch of new ships.
That said, the Delta Pack does sound like a god investment. You get a lot for your money if you have room in your ship slots for the new ships. The ships themselves sound interesting, and the chance to upgrade some existing also sounds good. I just hope that the new content isn't too difficult for those of us hwo cling to our Tier V technology.

It shouldn't be difficult at all. PvE is generally easy (unless you're doing STFs or other fleet actions). Assume it would be the same if you took a T4 ship into one of the episodes now.

I have been with Sto since it was only on the forums with Perceptual and the new things they are adding is making me very happy. I am in a light R.P. fleet and am an intelligence officer I can't wait to get my hands on some actual Intel gear for the game.

I appreciate STO's bringing the real actors back for this expansion. It's very appropriate and I'm sure their would be some serious hate if none were brought back.
Yet, I agree to have more original characters. they don't have to be "forced" onto the crew (like Tovan), but creating them so that the players may interact with them is worthwhile for emersion's sake. The only faction "needing" it are the Klingons now.
