January 2013 Ask Cryptic
Captain's Blog Stardate 90642.07
Is it just me or are these Ask Cryptics starting to sound the same every month? "When are we getting more Klingon stuff", "When are we getting more episodes", so on and so forth. I partially put some of the blame on the people asking the questions because if they just read last month's Ask Cryptic (or even the month before) then they would have the answer. Although Cryptic is to blame for answering the same questions again and again.
Anyway, I'm not here to talk about the questions. Instead I'd rather give you some information from this month's Ask Cryptic that you probably haven't heard about yet. For starters, they are aiming for a May release of Season 8 which will continue the game's story through new episodes and a new adventure zone (like New Romulus) as well as a big feature which they haven't mentioned yet. I won't even venture to guess what it is yet. It will also have a re-trait token which will allow you to pick traits for your character again just in case you messed up the first time. They are also thinking of a re-species token but that won't come next season.
The next lock box is the Dominion Lock Box which will give us a bunch of Jem'Hadar ships to earn and use. Along with that, it seems we'll be getting the Enterprise-C sometime soon since Cryptic just released a screenshot of it. The KDF will be getting a new ship when the 3 year anniversary hits and it will be released as a tier 3 and tier 5 ship. I assume whatever ship comes out for the Fed side during the anniversary will also be tier 3 and 5. I'm a little skeptical about it being the Enterprise-C since they released a screenshot so soon. I have a feeling it will be a brand new ship (at least I hope so).
Cryptic is planning to do a summer event, similar to the winter one we are just finishing up. I think this is a great idea because everyone really enjoys the winter event so adding one more in the middle of the year would be loads of fun and give players a little something extra to do. They would also like to hold more events for different reasons. Someone asked about celebrating 20 years of DS9 which Cryptic was unable to do. They would like to celebrate things like this more often, which I think is a great idea.

I think having a summer event on Risa, which they hinted might be an option, would be very cool.
It would also be interesting, as you can go to Risa any time, so even after the event could you still go and see the sand volleyball court, jet-ski course, or whatever they are planning after the event?
I'm curious what they do for summer outfits. People have always been asking for swimsuits, and I guess that could be good or bad. ; )
(I also agree that it seems silly how they waste time on the same types of questions they have already answered. They have never had space/time to answer any of the questions I have asked. ; )

Yeah I ask plenty of different questions also, but they only seem to answer the same old ones. Mine include asking about docking animations at starbases, and ground vehicles, such as the Argo from Nemesis.

I noticed two things of interest in the current Ask Cryptic. The idea of being able to merge fleets and/or share Star Bases sounds interesting. If we could have a single Star Base for the Academy and Militia fleets it would save us a ton of resources that are now going into duplicate projects. The 500 member cap would probably keep us from being able to actually merge the fleets, but if we could share the main Star Base that would be great.
The other item of interest was the lack of any questions about what to do with our Winter Commodities now that the Winter Event is over. Is there somewhere that we can redeem them for things like Glazed Targ, Nog's Nog or something else that might be useful?

Retrait is cool. Respecies? I am torn between Ex-borg or Orion.
As for the Klingon stuff, it was especially hard doing the same missions on KDF as on a Fed, just from an enjoyment angle. Maybe use some of the best Foundry missions as levelling missions for the KDF side.
