Legacy of Romulus is Here!
Captain's Blog Stardate 90986.59
I don't think I've ever been this excited for an update to Star Trek Online. If you don't know what I'm talking about than you must have been living under a Tribble pile for the past month. This Tuesday Legacy of Romulus is finally released to the public and we'll have three complete factions! My excitment is through the roof right now.
On top of that, I'm going to have a bunch of walkthroughs for the new missions (including videos) as well as an update to the skill planner! Just a quick note on the walkthroughs, I haven't completed all of them because there are just too many new missions right now. I'll slowly work on the missing ones and release them as quickly as possible. The skill planner will have the new Tholian reputation as well the new Romulan ships and warp cores.
I don't think there is much else I can say about Legacy of Romulus. It is the best update to the game so far, if you haven't tested it then I guarantee you'll love it. Sorry that I'm keeping this blog short but there is still more work to do for this site before Tuesday. I do have a question for all of you, so hopefully I'll get some answers.
What character do you plan on making for the Romulan Faction? Romulan, Reman, or Alien? Engineering, Science, or Tactical? Federation or Klingon ally? Do you have a back-story? I'd love to hear what you're doing! I'm making a Romulan Science officer who is most likely going to be an ally of the Federation. Eventually I'll make a Reman (possibly Tactical) who will be a Klingon ally. Can't wait to read what some of you have to say!

Will do a fed-rommie,sci officer too, but I wonder if she can use the wells temporal science vessel and the wells outfit pack :p
As far as I know, she will be a liberated borg ( I'm not LTS, so she will use Seven of Nine borg pieces).
After being liberated from the borg on a borg sphere by the Tal Shiar for experiments, the Romulan Republic, in an attempt to get information about what the Tal Shiar is up to, they recover a borg that looks lost.
That's it for the moment lol

I think the Wells is a tier 5 ship. Romulans can't use tier 5 ships of the other factions, only their own.

Actually, I believe Cryptic said that Romulans can use lock box ships. In this case a Fed rommie would be able to fly a Wells.

Read this dev blog http://sto.perfectworld.com/blog/?p=869551
Towards the bottom it specifically states that mirror ships and temporal ships of the other factions cannot be used by Romulans. Other lock box ships such as Jem'Hadar and Ferengi can be.

Fortunately, I still have a say in my Romulan Faction's Toon. :) I decided to totally venture into the unknown. I am used to male Tactical Toons, but this time it will also be a female Engineering Liberated Romulan Borg who will side with the Klingon Empire. Her background is already laid down (tacpaddy.eu/ptriq)

I'm looking forward to Tuesday!
I plan to make a Romulan Engineer, and he will be joining the Militia.
(I assume we will still get one more character slot tomorrow, as Dan Stahl had mentioned some time ago.)
In the future, I'll probably remove Namor, the level 33 Lethean Science KDF that I don't play, and will make a Reman, perhaps science officer, who will join the Legion.

I'm going to make a Reman tactical officer that sides with the federation so I can transfer a lot of my doffs over to get to tier 4 in all areas quickly.

I'll make a Reman TAC thats sides with the KDF, a dude I will call G'ntl M'ahn' captured by some lower house to help winning some arena battles against other houses in search of political and economic power (Spartacus much? LOL)

I will make a Romulan engineer that sides with the feds so I can take advantage of the benefits from my fleet's tier 5 base, possibly a liberated borg if the starting traits are more useful for an engineer.

First Romulan will be a Tac Captain in keeping with my usual pattern. That'll give me a Tac captain in each faction.
He'll be built along the lines of Mark Lenard's character from TOS. Updated uniform, but he's an older fellow that picking up a disruptor again because he sees no other choice.
As to whether he sides with the Federation or the KDF, that will remain to be seen. Which side helps his race survive and rebuild the most....?

Because of the end game alliance and premium ship availability, I will first make a Starfleet leaning Romulan. I would normally roll and engineer, but the game has become so one-dimensional towards dps that my first Romulan toon will be a tactical officer. Of course, the strong science bent of the Romulans shows that Cryptic is envisioning them as science support role players in pug and fleet pvp, imho. I don't like being herded into the cookie cutter...so I'll do it the hard way...:)

I will make a tac liberated borg romulan. I finally get to use my perk to make a liberated borg character.

I'm looking forward for this expansion.
My Rommie will be and Engineer, maybe Kdf allied but i'm not sure about it.

The ability to build a Romlulan character is not available when I go to create a character.
A little guidance on this would be appreciated

The ability to create a Romulan character will open up once the new update is completed later today.

I will probably start with a female Romulan Tac, just because that was the character I used as my main character on Tribble. After that I'll probably make a Science Romulan. I think I have an open slot or two on my Silver account, so I may make an Engineer over there. All of them will be Feds. I hardly ever play my three KDF toons now, so I don't plan to add any at this point.

I'm going to play with a male Reman character tactical with the Tal Shiar Destroyer and a Romulan Engineer with the new Lobi ship.
Plus, I'll play with other 2-3 characters with the romulan ships.
