More Voyager in STO

Captain's Blog Stardate 91254.77

There was a recent poll that Cryptic held asking players which stories, characters, species, etc. from which show they would like to see more of. The winning show was Voyager and I think that it deserved to win.

Voyager was a really good show with a lot of great new aliens and plenty of exploration that has yet to be done. As Stahl mentioned in his blog post, adding the Delta quadrant could be tricky but I have an idea. If you recall there was an episode of Deep Space 9 where they attempted to create a stable wormhole to the Delta quadrant TNG where they found a wormhole and decided to explore it. Two Ferengi ended up going through and getting stranded because they didn't listen that it was unstable. The wormhole collapsed and later on Voyager found the Ferengi.

What if research on creating a stable wormhole was completed and the Federation managed to open one. They could come and go from the Delta quadrant freely just like the Gamma quadrant wormhole. This gives players access to the entire quadrant and all the wonders it holds.

As Stahl also mentioned, if they are going to delve into Voyager stories then they'll also need to give a little history on what happened to the various characters. Frankly I'm looking forward to this. If you haven't read the official Star Trek Online book called The Needs of the Many, it actually already gives a bit of a history to some of the Voyager characters such as 7 of 9. Cryptic could definitely work off of this as well as other non-canon books.

Personally, I would like to see Admiral Janeway and (hopefully) Captain Harry Kim in the game. I think they would make great additions and the stories that could be told with them and the Delta quadrant would expand the game even more. The best part about Star Trek is that there is always a story to be told.

If more Voyager stuff is added, what would you like to see? Any specific races, characters, ships, locations? Let me know in the comments below!

[GeekMode]Wow. Two episodes got mixed up there. The Ferengi who stranded in the Delta Quadrant used the Barzan Wormhole from the TNG episode "The Price". The attempt to create a stable artifical Wormhole was then made in the DS9 episode "Rejoined".[/GeekMode]

I sense temporary transfers of existing former Vovayger personnel like Noami Wildman or Icheb. Imagine the return of the "Where is ..." questions.
That Space Adventure Zone will probably take place with in a Dyson's Sphere, although current concept arts suggest them to be much smaller than anticipated.
I'm quite intrigued that apparently the Voth will show up. It really puzzles me. As revealed in the VOY episode "Distant Origin", the Voth originate from Earth and posses superior Technology. Are they planning to return home? Is Starfleet to prevent that by taking the fight to enemy space? I'll guess, we have to wait and see for ourselves.

Wow you're absolutely right *facepalm*. Didn't they try to stabilize it in TNG?

They could always have a transwarp gate to the delta quadrant.

IMO, Voyager should've had more representation in the first place... I never saw much of the show, but I rewatched it and I want to be able to have Neelix as a BoFF (or his race anyway) And there should be an event to find an abandoned Delta Flyer or something.... I want to be able to get the original skin of the Flyer, not the one they have now...

I would like to see more of the Federation sectors first, but I understand that's why it's a poll. Democracy!

There are some of the play by email style RPGs that use a super sized Iconian Gateway to get to the Delta Quadrant. That would work really well for STO and would even expand more on the Iconian story.

VOY related, I would like to see more about how the rights of Holographics has been expanded. The VOY reboot novels started to do this, but never had a satisfying conclusion.

My terms are a bit messed up, so, don't throw a torpedo at me.

As Tess said, a TW Gate would work, either that, a storyline mission from that woman "Guardian" or whoever it was, could grant a special ability to request a transfer to the other quadrant. The transfer would be valid only once every 20-24 hours as to not 'abuse' the system.

There also is that anomaly that is next to ESD that takes us to the Captains Table. Going through there could maybe provide an option to throw us in the DQ?
