Review the Timelines
Captain's Blog Stardate 93648.95
With Star Trek Online being quiet and Star Trek Timelines being released on mobile devices, I figured this was the perfect time to play it and review the game! So let's skip the witty banter mon capitaine and jump right into it, shall we?
Star Trek Timelines is game that revolves around a story in which the barriers between time have collapsed. Characters, objects, and ships from the past, present, and other universes are combining into one universe causing chaos and destruction. Oh no! The story is simply a way to explain how players can use any officer from their favorite Star Trek shows. It's clever and the fact that you can use any of them is a highlight of the game.
Although I think the best part of the game is that John de Lancie has reprised his role as Q and takes you through the tutorial. What is it about him playing Q that is so amazing? I love it!
The graphics are pretty amazing, especially the space battles. Unfortunately you do not control your ship like in Star Trek Online. What you can do is pick officers and activate their abilities in order to win the battle. Away missions are even simpler. You don't see anything! Just click an officer and they help you complete the mission. Almost like duty officers in STO. Of course there is much more strategy than that.
I think what's appealing about this game is that it is almost like a puzzle. It makes you think. That's something which has attracted fans to Star Trek for years. We love the puzzles, mysteries, stories, etc. This game seems to have that. I haven't made it very far in the game, but I am enjoying it. If anyone else has played it please share your thoughts.

I looked at the Star Trek Timelines website and it sounds like a fun game. It also sounds like a game that is true to the spirit of the Star Trek universe. Unfortunately, it also sounds like a game that could eat up a lot of time to play effectively. I went through that with Neverwinter when OOC-Chris tried to form an STOA guild on that game. I soon discovered, as Chris did, that it was taking too much time away from STO. Let's face it, I'm not a serious Gamer. I'm a Star Trek fan who discovered STO within a year of its launch. I've been onboard with it ever since.
