Interesting piece of information that I recently came across. Apparently STO will be getting lightsabers (cough) excuse me, energy swords. I don't know the full details on this as I have heard a few different things. First of all it seems that they will all deal plasma damage and that Federation players will have blue weapons and KDF players will have red weapons. I also heard that it won't be an actual sword but instead it'll be an energy bat'leth and lirpa. If that's the case I guess I can deal with it, but honestly I don't want to start seeing Star Wars technology in STO. What's next, the death star? Am I very upset about this? Not really. If we have energy swords in the game then so be it. I'm not going to rage over it but I do think it�s a bit strange to take something from what can be considered competition and put it into your own game. The developers should be focused on making this more trek-like and stop taking ideas from other works of fiction (i.e. the aegis set looking like Tron). It also seems like it will be added to the winter wonderland store which makes me believe it won't be available after the winter event is over. Although I guess they could always put it on the C-Store. What's your take on this? Do you think energy weapons are a good or bad idea? Do you think using ideas from other places is something STO should do?
