Tactical Warbirds
Captain's Blog Stardate 91312.22
So who bought a brand new Tactical Warbird for themselves? Unfortunately I didn't get one yet but I've seen the stats and have some thoughts on it.
I'll start off with the look of the ship. I saw one in sector space and it was very sleek, looked like a Romulan ship, and seemed just the right size. Essentially it's around the same size as a Defiant or Bird-of-Prey, with a larger wingspan.
One thing that I am happy about and most interested in getting is the quad plasma cannons. I already own the phaser and disruptor versions of it and I personally feel that those are great weapons (and also very very cool). If for no other reason, that's why I would buy this ship. Keep in mind, the Retrofit C-Store versions are the ones that come with the quad cannons, not the free/dilithium one you can purchase in game.
I've always found universal bridge officer stations very useful and this ship comes with a Lt. Commander one (yay). Universal stations are great when customizing a ship to your needs. I feel that for this ship an Engineering officer would be perfect there, but that's just my opinion.
The Tactical Warbird also comes with a Focused Singularity Modulator console which, when combined with the quad cannons, gives a boost to the plasma damage that your ship does with any energy weapon. It seems like everything about this ship's equipment has been created to boost plasma weapons, which are a favorite among the Romulans.
It seems like a tough little ship and as soon as I can, I'll be buying and testing one of these out. In the comments below let me know your thoughts on this ship, especially if you own one!

Yay! I love Warbirds! I run Plasma/Diruptor hybrids on Thrawn's birdies. Looking foward to trying one of these out.

I bought both of the ships from the cstore the day they were released. Although I have the legacy pack I was looking for a "defiant-ish" escort for my reman tac officer. With the quad cannons and fully powered singularity beam this ship is pretty insane. I just switched over to advanced fleet plasma DHCx3 (still hoping for elite plasma weaps for the Romulan faction at some point) and I have to say I'm killing it now. The key with this ship is to spec your toon for full energy specialization (no torp skkills) and have plenty of power in your engine, weapons and shield subsystem skills. A little juice in armor reinforcements doesn't hurt either. All in all I think this is a pretty solid ship - especially considering I'm using a mk x space set until I unlock the xii sets (in the coming weeks). The OMEGA XII space set makes this ship a tactical beast - while as you know - the assimilated set improves your survivability. It all depends on your playstyle...oh yea if you are into dogfighting with your escort rather than the park and shoot...get yourself an elite fleet resilient shield [adapt] and you are golden

oh yes...and the above comment is my opinion...I respect others who have different opinions (usually based on playstyle) so try not to flame me too hard for my comment lol

PPS - the tactical warbirds are now carrier escorts - nice!!!

I've tried them on tribble, and didn't like it because Boff layout doesn't fit my builds.
Now that it will become Carrier-Escort, I may consider of getting it, but still waiting to see what Fleet version will bring.

Ok, I friggin grabbed the Carrier last night, AND LOVED IT!!!!! I'm getting the T3 version today, for the Quad Plasma Cannon and set bonus.

Set bonus for this ship is quite solid...you can move around and steer without breaking the beam..just keep generally facing your target...if you have singularity power to full and your opponent has no shields....well...just watch their hull melt away lol - kills in PvE as well...borg just disintigrate...all in all...I am extremely satisfied with this purchase...now I just need them to release a fleet version so I have more console space and perhaps it will make the ship a little less squishy lol - I have the omega mk x set on it right now...but I have a feeling that with the OMEGA XII set and elite fleet shields or the borg xii set - this ship will be a force to be reckoned with...anyone have any thought on the elite fleet phasers for a quad cannon defiant? was going to purchase that next as I love the extra firepower the quad cannons give...and they allow some constant damage so shields don't recharge as quick
