Tell A Story
Captain's Blog Stardate 93284.92
Honestly, I'm having a really tough time writing this week's blog. The STO universe has silenced and I've talked about everything I can possible think of. So instead, we're going to have a little fun with this blog. Let's get creative!
The idea is to tell a really short story. Here are the rules: everyone must comment to continue the story and cannot write more than 5 sentences. You cannot comment twice in a row, but you can comment after someone else has. Please do not use the "reply" links, just comment from the very bottom. I'll start things off.
"Captain's log stardate 57813.47.
We've arrived in orbit around Juraf III, an uninhabited world full of plant and animal life. It is Starfleet's hope that we can colonize this world and setup a base of operations for further exploratory missions in this region of the galaxy. I've asked our chief medical officer, Kyle, head of security, Kintok, and two science officers to join me in surveying the planet."
Captain Christina Mendes joined her away team in the transporter room, and took her position on the transport pad. "Energize," she said, and soon they were surrounded by sparkling light as they disintegrated and materialized on the planet's surface.

The blue shimmer of the transporter beam cleared from Captain Mendes' eyes and the full landscape of this strange new world came in to focus. As the rest of the away team pulled out Tricorders and knelt to start collecting samples in the small clearing that was the beam in site, Captain Mendes turned her body in full circle, looking up and down, taking in the whole scene. A dense forested area with countless patches of multi coloured wild flowers and thick areas of moss and ivy intertwining the tree branches. "Looks a lot like Earth!" Mendes heard the voice of her Human Medical Officer, Kyle now standing behind her.

The strange plant life that looked like tulip bells that displayed cupped ended tentacles popping in and our of the parent cup appeared to be sensing the new arrivals. "Pop, whish, Pop". The plants emitted a sweet scent......

One of the Science officers walked to the plant and knelt beside it. Using his tricorder he scanned the tulip looking plant, smiling he turned towards Mendes "this is one nice smelling Pla....." and collapsed to the floor, lifeless!

In the air a chime sounds, a voice is heard 'you better not be playing that holo novel again, you've got school in 30 minutes and your walking not beaming today'. William switches off the system and gets ready for school. Just then a rumbling is heard increasing until the whole house begins to shake.....

A deep and thunderous crunching noise is heard, followed by overwhelming vibrations. William's vision is severely blurred and he is slammed to floor. Sprawled and unable to move for several seconds, William then gets up, shaking, and looks out his bedroom window. He is astounded to see that he has to look down several hundred feet to see his street. His neighbors are pointing up and looking as they become smaller and smaller to William. He realizes with unbearable dread that his house is being lifted into the sky and perhaps even higher than that!

Kyle, stood and hurried to the fallen science officer. As he kneeled by the lifeless body he said, "It doesn't make sense. All his systems are functioning but his body IS lifeless!"
Meanwhile, half way across the planet, a tractor beam had a house in it's grip. William calls out to his mother.
