That Gear is Epic!
Captain's Blog Stardate 92327.19
Before I talk about the newest Delta Rising features, I just want to let everyone know that I'm holding all updates to the skill planner until Delta Rising is released, unless something is truly broken. This will give me more time to focus on add the Delta Rising features to the skill planner, and hopefully other changes that are needed.
So it's official, October 14 is the release date for Star Trek Online: Crashed Server... I mean Delta Rising :D It's a good thing I'll be at work when Delta Rising is released so I won't have to worry about the server going BOOM. Hopefully when I get home a few hours later I'll be able to enjoy it lol.
At least we got some good news this week - the Gear Upgrade System! Woohoo! So it sounds like we can literally take any piece of equipment and improve both it's mark and it's rarity. This ensures that we'll be able to use our favorite equipment at any level, even if the level cap increases again. Of course it won't come free, but at least it can be done. The really cool part of all this is that all of our equipment's rarity can improve from common (white) to epic (gold). This allows the game to grow endlessly and ensure that we can play the way we want. Now all we need is to be able to use any ship at any level and I'll be a happy man.
The other piece of good news is the revamp to the PvE Queue. In short, Normal missions will stay the same. You have a primary object and a few optional objectives. Advanced missions will have the primary object, normal optional objectives will be mandatory, and a new set of optional objectives. Finally we have Elite missions where the optionals from Normal and Advanced are now required and we'll have new optional objectives. The optionals will provide bonus rewards. Each difficulty level has stronger enemies.
Overall we are definitely getting a great challenge and I'm looking forward to it. The best part is that even the difficulty slider is getting a slight revamp. Enemies will be harder and the rewards will be greater. Now I wonder if I can continue playing the game on Elite. I guess we'll wait and see.
Now that the upgrade system has been announced, how do you feel about the level cap increase? What do you think about the change to the PvE difficulties? Are you up to the challenge? I'd also like to know how are you preparing for the server crash... I mean Delta Rising? Damn I keep getting those two mixed up!

that truly is EPIC news. but how log will it take to upgrade items to epic? Would it be part of the R&D system? I dont really know. but my main wish is to include more dil with missions and PvE....
but I would like to try out the NEW elite versions. a good challenge indeed!
Perhaps it would be a good day to die afterall...

My only complaint is.... Make the interior hallways smaller and more realistic ... And get rid of those huge windows in crew area. They're stupid!!!!

Just to add... I am soooo happy they brought out constellation class but I really wish they brought out a constellation bridge that could be used on the constitution refit and miranda class ships also.
An excelsior bridge would be nice. im fed up of using next generation bridge setting (prototype) for almost all of my ships......

The cost to upgrade is too high!

And thats the cheapest means to go. Yes, being able to upgrade to gold is cool. But how worth it is it?

I love the idea of upgrading my stuff on game but the cost of it will be so great that i believe that they will not worth it. Beside the fact that this is not a game anymore, but a endless griding tour.

Yep, they want to earn a buck, it's their goal, spend ZEN on the game and you will be a happy maxed out captain.
Pondering on making them realize what trekkies need.

Crashed server allright, happening now!

It's all great news! I use Spiral Wave Disruptors and was blown away to learn their "infinity" status was *weaker* than MkXII gear. So being able to upgrade them is "epic" to me. I don't care to make them Epic level (but I'll still try).
This is simply awesome stuff.
Level cap = good.
PvE challenges = great!
Server crashes = I'll be at work HAHA suckahs.
