The Duty Officer Contest
Captain's Blog Stardate 92576.34
So what do you think about this "Design a Duty Officer" contest and the possibility of having it added to the game? You can definitely have the perspective that Cryptic is just using it's players for creativity instead of doing it themselves... but I like the more positive view. This is a great way to get players involved with the game and it's so simple.
Duty officers are probably the easiest thing to be added to the game, so this could be the first of many such contests which give us new, special, and unique duty officers. This isn't the first time Cryptic did something like this. Remember the Enterprise contest to design the Enterprise-F? That's the one which brought us the Odyssey. Players got to submit designs and the best one was added to the game.
So here's my big question. Would Cryptic expand this to NPCs or special bridge officers as well? Imagine being able to submit a character and their back story which can be added to an upcomming mission. Either that or a bridge officer that comes as a reward. Could other ships be added? Whole worlds? Maybe bridge creations in the foundry that become part of the game.
The possibilities are endless, and something like this really keeps players interested in the game and makes it fun for them to play. So in the comments let me know what do you think of stuff like this and what other contests would you like to see from Cryptic?

It is a step in the right direction! I still don't understand why they don't integrate more fan content into the game; they seem to push the Foundry less then they did before!

Agreed! Love this contest, wish they would do stuff like it more often, and agree with the post above me. The foundry has so much potential!
