The Voth
Captain's Blog Stardate 91407.96
Am I the only one who thinks that the Voth are by far the coolies enemies we have in STO? Look at their ships, characters, and even pets! I want a Voth playable faction and I want it now!
Ok I'm really not that crazy, but I would love to play a Voth. Just looking at their armor alone is really cool, not to mention they have dinosaur pets with lasers! It's like Jurassic Park meets Star Trek! Don't get me started on their ships.
Nevermind, I'm already thinking about it. Their ships are so sleek looking. I guarantee that the next lock box will be a Voth box and I have to be honest, this is the first time I'm excited for a lock box. I have to keep reminding myself that I don't know this for sure and shouldn't get ahead of myself, but I can't help it.
Frankly, the more I learn about the Voth the more I'm looking forward to fighting them. They seem to be a very unique enemy and I think they'll be a lot of fun to play against. I'm glad that Cryptic is trying to give us unique enemies and experiences instead of sticking to the same thing. It really adds a new dimension to the game and I'll go as far as saying that it gives us a bit of that "to boldly go" feeling.
Do you think the Voth and the whole Dyson sphere concept will be great for the game? Are you interested in owning a Voth ship? Do you want to play as the Voth too?! Let me know in the comments!

Well, I really like the concept so far. I was really hoping for a ground adventure zone, and from what they have showed and commented we are getting a huge map kind of New Romulus but with better action towards gaming. I hope those CyberDinos are a good challenge and not some dumbed down version of a boss. Not excited about owning a Voth lockbox ship but a Dino pet! great that Cryptic/PWE keep implementing stuff that can be fun and not only grindy content

From what I heard/read it sounds more like a space adventure map with ground parts to it.

Attiliosaur Rex, King of STO Academy! ;)
You're not alone there, if they would be playable unlockable species (for all 3 or at least 2 factions), I would not regret into investing some Zen, even better if they would be "Voth Rep" unlock.
What interests me more are other info on next season, if there's even half from what can be read on STOWiki, WOOHOO!!! (Kits, revamp of Rep system, Doffs on Gateway, bonuses of class specific ships)

haha I like the sound of that!
I should start paying attention to the patch notes for Tribble. That's pretty much everything that'll be coming in Season 8.

They look cool and interesting and well designed. My problem with STO and the Voth are the same I have with the game as a whole... why something else to kill? I hope the first few missions can sell me on the idea that we've tried diplomacy and avoidance and those aren't workable solutions.

The simplest answer to "why?" is because this is an mmo and we need things to kill. Different things makes it interesting.
Looking at it from a story perspective, I agree it should make some sense and not just something thrown into the game. So far I haven't found any enemies that don't make sense.

It's going to be an interesting effect, closing in on a Dyson Sphere and entering the thing. That by itself will be worth the seeing.
Hopefully the Voth will be more than a one dimensional "shoot me" species. We have one of those already called the Borg. What would be interesting wold be if there were different factions within the Voth, each with their own goals that might not play well with one or another of the other Voth factions. That would be a bit like the Romulans role we have now, but still better than just shooting them on sight.

Now that is interesting story and, as we saw in ST:Voyager, it has real foundations, one side of them blindly following Doctrine, and other side trying to find real truth of origins.

We'll be lucky if we get to fly up to the Dyson sphere. The latest dev blog said we'll get to the Dyson sphere from the Tau Dewa sector. My guess is that we'll transwarp right into it, or something like that.
