Watch Out For Undine!

Finally some dev blogs! It feels like it's been forever since we've gotten a new one. The first thing I want to talk about is the upcoming Undine space combat revamp. Cryptic has taken a look at all the Undine ships and tweaked them a bit to make them smarter and stronger. The goal is to make them on par with the Borg. So in other words, more flies to swat.

Seriously though, I think this was a good idea and probably means that we'll be seeing some major updates to Undine team PvE missions which aren't currently in the PvE queue. If you haven't played Terradome then you've missed a pretty good game... aside from the bugs. I've played it once and enjoyed it but always felt like it could use that little extra kick to make it a great mission. Hopefully it gets the update it deserves and becomes part of the almighty PvE queue.

This also means that the space combat against Undine across the board will be harder. I'm looking forward to this because a challenge is always fun. What we really need is a team PvE mission (most likely an STF) where we have to fight the Borg and Undine who are also fighting each other. Talk about a crazy space battle!

Alright let's just move on quickly to one other Season 8.5 topic and that's the updated Klingon War story missions. All of these missions are getting major improvements in the story, graphics, etc. I'm looking forward to replaying them because I know when Cryptic remasters a mission they do it the right way. "Stranded in Space" and "Diplomatic Orders" are two perfect examples of this. Those missions were ok when they first came out with the game, but after Cryptic's updates to them they became something entirely new and amazing!

Overall it seems like Season 8.5 will be a pretty good update to the game, not to mention the STO anniversary event. In the comments let me know what you are expecting from the Undine update and if you're looking forward to these remastered missions!

First thing I thought when I read about the Undine update was I can't remember the last time I actually fought an Undine ship. Without some updates to the end game missions that include them I'm afraid I'll never notice the difference. I have a feeling this could be a precursor to our next Rep system. My prediction for season 9, Undine rep system with some new and some revamped Undine missions in the queue.
