What Do You Want in 2014

Captain's Blog Stardate 91561.27

Another year has come and nearly gone for STO. The simple fact that we got a brand new faction added to the game is fantastic. Legacy of Romulus is truly the perfect example of how far this game has come and what is in store for us in the future.

With that being said, what would to see in STO for 2014? I expect updates to the summer and winter events (I'm already excited for them! haha) and we have the 4 year anniversary event which is always fun. What I'd really like to see added for next year's winter event is some sort of head gear. Earmuffs, hats, stuff like that. It would make my winter outfit complete.

I still want my Vulcan escort ship, but that's probably just a dream. Although that reminds me, I wonder what ship we'll be getting for the 4 year anniversary? Anyone hear any rumors or have an idea of what ship you would like to see?

Something that I think would be fun to have in game is cross-faction fleet alliances. It would make the game even more social than it already is which is great since this is an mmo.

Now I have to be honest, I'm not too sure if I want to see another faction added. Odds are if they add another one, it would be the Cardassians and probably have the same type of "choose your alliance" system. While I'm perfectly fine with that, I think they should wait until 2015 before giving us a whole new faction.

I guess I better end it here before I ramble on. Don't forget, in the comments let me know what you'd like to see from STO in 2014!!

Back years ago in a lil game called Earth and Beyond, they had holiday space weapons. Not only were they so fun, but just as STO's snowballs can be flung at the opposite faction, these could too in space. The "Punkin Chunker" was a favorite and snowball cannons pelting other ships.Fun stuff!

I would like to see:
1- More stuff in the gateway system, like Doffing, Exchange access, Inventory and banking access (already implemented on Neverwinter)
2 -more periodic sales with better discounts (NWO gets 50% twice a year and 30% monthly!!! although I would think that this means that game isn't doing very well)
3- fleet pvp with rankings system
4- more sets but less reptutation grind
5- more ways to get the holiday event ships
6- less bugs
7- a more powerful Foundry
8- maybe something like SOE is doing with a shop featuring player built stuff
9 - RL stuff to be sold at store, like t-shirts, models, decals, etc

Well I agree with most of what Thorrik suggested, although I would like to add more designs and color combinations on ships. I think the colors are too muted, especially on the romulans. But mostly I would like more exploration and diplomacy events and missions.

Cryptic gave some hints today. (http://sto.perfectworld.com/blog/?p=1065181)
Since we will see some more background story on the Dyson Sphere in featured episodes around the 4th Anniversary, I'm guessing we are getting an alien Ship. Cryptic plans another Expansion for late 2014. Sounds to me like we are getting out of the Dyson Sphere and into the Delta Quadrant.

Personally, for 2014 I want to see upgrades of the Gateway as well. I also like to see the other Reputation Systems redone in the fashion of the Dyson Joint Command Reputation.
IN the Foundry, I want custom Ship interiors, a Terrain Editor for Ground Maps, the reactivation of Costume imports/exports and I also want each Outfit available ingame also made available for NPCs.

Oh and of course, I'm still waiting on a unique romulan "Big" Carrier with 2 Hangar Bays. Other than that, I'm happy. :D

Hmm. I wish the Aegis set gets an upgrade.

Otherwise, I agree: not a new faction.

If STO made a auctioning system and make dilithium able to be transferred through the account bank. Also a dilithium and EC exchange. And i wish that cryptic would add Ferenganar to the game, and where is Betazed? For the Fourth year anniversary ship they should put in a Norway class Escort I would love to be flying around in a Norway class. And make the other Reputation systems like the Voth one. Lastly make Star Fleet HQ a actual map.

I also wish cyptic would add a better space dying animation make some nacelles fly off or something. And PLEASE MAKE IT SO YOU CAN SWITCH YOUR DOMINANT HAND FROM RIGHT TO LEFT.

It's not going to happen, but I would like to see the Crafting System go back to just using data samples, or at least for the Dilithium amounts to be substantially reduced. If you compare the Exchange value of the materials you need to craft anything with the prices you can get to buy the same item on the Exchange, it is almost always cheaper to buy the item than to make it. Even the rare exceptions where it's cheaper to Craft a particular item, there are options
at the Fleet vendors that give you better equipment for a lower price.

I would also like to see a way to transfer Dilithium and Zen between accounts, but that's not going to happen either. It would open up too many opportunities for people to abuse the game economy.
