Wormhole Boxes
Captain's Blog Stardate 89723.85
Hey everyone! Two important things this week: Cardassian Lock Boxes and the release of the Second Wave episode. Let’s start with the Cardassian Lock Boxes. Who else was going crazy opening them up and trying to get the Cardassian Galor ship? I won't say how many keys I used (a lot), but thankfully I had enough Dilithium to exchange for C-Points and buy all the keys I needed. Eventually I managed to get the Galor. It’s a really nice ship, and the bridge looks good. It handles pretty well too. I'd say the turn rate is a cross between an escort and a cruiser.
Of course, these lock boxes were another way for Cryptic to make money. I can't really blame them though. Now that the game is free they need to make money somehow. Other than that, its also a nice way for players to get some interesting and useful items.
Anyway, on to the newest mission, Second Wave. Overall it was not a bad episode but definitely not the best. So far The Vault is still the best opener mission to any of the featured series, and Cloaked Intention is one of the top missions. Second Wave starts over very diplomatically and ends with fighting, and that's a pretty good balance. It was a nice start to the series and definitely setup the "mystery" of these ships and why the Dominion is attacking us again.
I also liked the optional missions you could get from each of the conference delegates; it gave the mission a different feel to it. The cut scenes looked good (aside from the graphical bugs). The voice acting was decent. Some actors didn't seem like they were acting, or didn't fit the part well. Others worked out nicely and sounded really good. This isn't some blockbuster movie so I can deal with it.
Make sure you let me know your thoughts on the lock boxes and Second Wave. It’s been a controversial week (people liking and disliking both the boxes and mission) so I'm interested in seeing what people say.

I'm new to STO and this is the first featured series I've started. I really liked it compared to the main story missions. Yes there were bugs and stuff but find me a game that doesn't have some, let alone a game this big.

Newbie to the game, with some thoughts...
Lock Boxes - I don't have a huge problem with the lock boxes. However, I do have a problem with the spamming of who got a Galor when. It gets to be very distracting for some people even though I've mostly filtered it out.
The FE's so far were decent, although one bug hit me particularly hard on the first - my main is an engineer and building turrets (and just about all my powers) were disabled for some reason. I found this out about the time I got blasted about eight times in the back. That was particularly annoying.
As per the Galor, I'm hoping they put out something similar that's actually a Fed ship that you can buy in the C-Store. From what little I've seen I'd probably be willing to pony up for it if it were in a Federation ship skin (and, you know, actually available for sale).
That said, I don't blame Cryptic at all for having this, they do have to make money. Just wish they tweaked it a bit to be a bit less annoying.
